The Nashville based singer has released another heart wrenchingly beautiful track to add to your ‘sad songs’ playlist.
TikTok sensation Taylor Bickett is a rising star, who rapidly gained a following during 2020, when she began uploading original songs to the video based app.
“Zodiac Sign” is the singer’s second release of 2022 and perfectly fits her collection of expertly written indie-pop love songs. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams and Dodie; Bickett’s new song speaks to the heart of all the hopeless romantics with a flare for astrology.
Following the 22-year-old’s first debut single “Break My Own”, which was released in 2021, Bickett has built a platform of devoted followers who describe the melodic singer as a “long-lost older sister”.
The lyrics to the astrological inspired song is Bickett’s very own star-crossed lovers story. She explains “one night, I found myself pining after someone and in an act of desperation, I searched up our zodiac signs’ compatibility. We were, decidedly, not astrologically compatible”. Although, as the singer’s melodic lyrics go, ‘the signs all point to no but I keep trying’; the Nashville songwriter decided she doesn’t give up that easily.
“The next day, I sat down and wrote ‘Zodiac Sign’, it’s about being a hopeless romantic (and a bit of a stubborn one)“.
She concluded “it’s me saying, ‘all of the odds could be stacked against us and I’d still go for it. Screw what the stars say - we’re going to be the exception”.
