LIVE REVIEW: Charlie Pittman

Writer: Kimberley HarrisKimberley Harris

Charlie Pittman headlined the Courtyard Theater for a one off show in London last week and what a show it was.

The singer-songwriter released his latest single “Friends Don’t Lie” earlier this year, for which he shared the story behind on his Instagram, “I wrote this as a reminder that life’s too short to have shitty friends and that it’s completely fine to cut things off with people if the relationship isn’t healthy”.

The London show opened with Blake Patrick Anderson, who’s melodic vocals combined with his endearing energy was a towering start to the show.

Up next was INÉS RAE, who was very popular with the crowd and for good reason. The singer’s energetic stage presence was complemented by her catchy lyrics, vocally resembling 2022’s answer to Ellie Goulding.

Charlie finally took to the stage, to a roar of cheers from a packed audience, opening with his 2021 single “Know Me”.

The London based singer sang an array of original songs as well as a few catchy covers that had the lively audience singing every word back to him. Although he's an artist, who’s well equipped with a number of slow and sorrowful songs, Charlie played an engaging and uplifting set. Most likely due to his exceptionally harmonious vocals and inviting stage presence that was only encouraged by his energetic band.

Amidst his original numbers, Charlie was joined on stage by singer-songwriter Katie Kittermaster, who’s voice captivated the room and sounded melodic alongside the headliner’s. Charlie closed the show, with an upbeat cover of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, proving the singer can do cheerful songs just as harmonically as his heart-wrenching originals.

Consequently, Charlie’s live vocals and on-stage persona make him one of the most exciting upcoming artists in the industry, right now.
